About me

Blessed Musical Lineage

Music and Seva flow through my family: My Grandfather (Daada Ji), who is no more in this world, played Tabla alongside the Panth’s famous Saint-Kirtani Bhai Sahib Bhai Chamanjeet Singh Ji Lal (Delhi Vale). My Daadi Ji does Seva of Guru Maharaj Ji and spends every night in meditation. She gets up at 12 midnight, does Ishnaan and begins her 6-hour long Nitnem, which includes Simran, Panj Baniyan and other Paath until 6:30am. She has been doing this since the past 15 years. My Daadi Ji and Daada Ji were Sevaks of Baba Joginder Singh Ji Moni Ji, who were the Jathedar of Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib and did Seva for a total of 50+ years at Takhat Sahib. Their dedication to Sikhi inspires me daily.

Since childhood, my Naana Ji is a dedicated Sevadaar of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and knows loads of Gurbani kanth (off by heart) including their favourite Sukhmani Sahib. My Naani Ji has been doing Kirtan in the Gurdwara Sahib since she was young. On many occasions, I have played Tabla with her. Her dedication to Kirtan and Guru Maharaj is an inspiration. My Naani Ji and Naana Ji used to go to Sant Sujan Singh Ji’s Kirtan programs in Delhi, who were a great Mahapurkh and Kirtani of the great saintly soul, Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji (Kalera Vale).

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

My name is Bachittar Singh and I am 15 years old. I currently study in Grade 11 (AS Level) at an online Cambridge school. I was born in Leicester, England, into a Gursikh family devoted to Seva, Gursikhi Parchaar and the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj.

Family Legacy of Seva and Kirtan

My family's roots run deep in Sikhi. My Pita Ji (Dr. Baba Karandeep Singh Ji) was blessed to serve as one of the Panj Pyare in Amrit Sanchaars across North India, UK and Europe, while my Mata Ji regularly performed Kirtan at Gurmat camps and weekly Gurughar and house programs.

Inspired by them, I began learning Kirtan in 2014 (at the age of 5). In 2016, our family moved to India to do Parchaar Seva, and my spiritual and musical connection deepened as I began learning Raag Kirtan.

My Ustaads and Mentors

I have been fortunate to learn from some of the most respected Raagis and Gursikhs. I am very thankful for those who are teaching me. Their knowledge and experience guide my discipline, style and understanding of Gurmat Sangeet and Raag Vidya.

The following two great personalities of the Sikh Panth are teaching and shaping me:

Bhai Siripal Singh Ji – Hazoori Raagi, Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar. I started learning Tanti Saaj from them at the age of 9. They taught me all the details of the Saaj: how to hold a Saaj and how to play a Saaj. I took online classes from them and started learning Taus Saaj. It was a beautiful experience learning from them, as they had been doing Kirtan at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib for a long time. Now they are based in California.

Bhai Bahulivleen Singh Ji – Akaali Jatha. I have been taking classes of Gurmat Sangeet from Ustaad Ji for the past 5 years. To date, I am still learning from them, and have learnt 25+ Raags and 75+ shabads. I am currently learning Sri Asa Di War. Ustaad Ji has learnt from Prof Surinder Singh Ji (Raj Academy, UK) & Principal Sukhwant Singh Ji (Jawaddi Taksaal). Now Ustaad Ji lives in Canada, so I take online classes from them.

Santhya

With Guru Sahib's Kirpa, I’ve completed: Gurbani Santhya of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Santhya of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji. I’ve been blessed to do: 6 Sehaj Paaths of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji and 3 Sehaj Paaths of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I have taken Santhya from Giani Sher Singh Ji and Giani Sukhjeet Singh Ji (Budha Dal). Since childhood, I have found true peace in Seva, whether it's serving Guru Sahib's Saroop, caring for Shastars, or upholding the Rehit Maryada of the Khalsa Panth.

I am forever thankful to Guru Sahib for the blessings of Kirtan, Seva and Sangat.

My vision is to continue spreading the message of Gurbani through Kirtan and to inspire younger generations to stay connected with Gurbani, Seva, Sikhi and Rehat Maryada of the Panth. Wherever Guru Sahib sends me, whether on stage, at a Takhat Sahib, or in a Gurdwara, I try to carry forward the light of Gurbani with love and devotion.
